Motherboard Tester

    Doe's anybody could give me any idea how to tested the laptops motherboards without the parallel port.
    I have tester but it has to be connected to the parallel port and newer laptops don't have it at all.

    well then its for testing old laptop and is basically obsolete

    I have never seen laptops with parrallel ports..

    The parallel port was installed in all old laptops the same as RS232. I have one broken laptop with all ports on my desk and my tester works properly, however I didn't see the tester for laptops without PP.

    many corporate laptops have docking stations with parallel ports.


    the thing is a POSTCARD aka Diagnostics card

    you can get them in ISA / PCI / Parallel Port
    AND for laptops without docking stations MINI PCI / MINI PCIe - pop out the wifi card and away you go


    search the net you'll pick up a combined minipci/mini pcie one for about $20
    combined ISA/PCI one is about $3 on deal extreme

    After that you are looking for a JTAG port

    Thank you, i will try this way

    however I'm not sure it will work, because I have laptops they cant start at all, some of them only LED is lighting or flashing. no signals nothing else, and I'm not sure that the extension card will be recognized.

    I will tested it anyway, I will buy one of the card soon.
