Using Yoga to Compliment Running for Strength

I've just completed the Couch 2 5k program ran my first 5k race last week. I'll be moving on to Hal Higdon's 10k novice program.

I have been doing weights but I'm wondering would yoga be better than weights to compliment running, because of the stretching aspect. I'd love to do both but time is an issue.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm doing Yoga about once a week for a core strengthening workout. I don't do any advanced stuff, and I have my doubts about the value of stretching exercises (Yoga or otherwise) with regards to running, but as a 30 minute core workout it seems to be working well for me.

This discussion should be moved away from Events into the main ART forum, btw.

Cheers! I've just come back now from a yoga class and I feel totally stretched and energised.

Sorry I've posted in the wrong forum. Any chance a mod could move this?

    Thanks!

Took up yoga last winter once a week and 6 months in, i do see a difference albeit not a massive one with my legs. The long miles are upon me now for my marathon so hopefully all the stretching will help.

Where did you take your yoga classes? I'm looking for evening yoga classes (living northside) and very limited choice.

Dance House Ireland on Foley Street (off Gardiner St) but i'm sure there are places that offer classes round the northside.
