Just so you know, they are different Models. Todays iBood is Philips Model offer is for the HF3475 where as the last one that came out 27 March on iBood was HF3470. Now at first I thought higher number so newer model, great, but no......

If you look at this link here
    http://www.support.philips.com/support/catalog/products.jsp;jsessionid=989A64AB8EE6D64CB37C5850D85C273B.app106-drp1?_dyncharset=UTF-8&country=&categoryid=HW_WAKEUPLIGHT_SU1_GB_CARE&userLanguage=en&navCount=1&groupId=LIGHTING_GR_GB_CARE&catalogType=&navAction=push&userCountry=gb&title=Wake-up+Light&cateId=WAKEUPLIGHT_CA_GB_CARE

Philips webpage shows you the model (HF3475) on came out in 2008 where as the model (HF3470) was release this year.

But from looking at the specs the older one HF3475 seems better (better efficient light and extra things), weird or what!!!

    are these any good?
It's bright when I wake up everyday and even
with the curtains drawn I can sleep away
without a bother which is a bit of a problem.
Personally i'd need something that will give
me an electric shock in order to get me up
    outa bed.

Ye didn't miss out on a bargain here... got mine, it was DOA.
    Light didn't work.
I'm not the only one who complained on the iBood forum, it seems to be a bad batch.

If like me you just dont like getting up there of no use, youll find yourself going back to an alarm clock with a snooze button. I got one of these for christmas 2yrs ago, it'll wake you up but wont stop you drifting back off to sleep.
If you jump out of bed when you wake up you might find it good or you could leave the curtain a little open.

So the people that got them the last time are you glad you got them? Recomend them?

Quick question: can these things be used as normal bedside lights too? You know, for reading and stuff.
Gonna order two, one for me and one for swmbo. It'll keep the lockers clutter free if we can have a light and alarm rolled into one.

I wonder if this has the same problems as the HF3480 model?

ibood sold the HF3480 a back in April ago and I remember there being an uproar over the amount that were DOA, the ibood forums were full of people complaining. Then a couple of months later it emerged that the bulb inside this thing is very unreliable with a lot of people reporting it only lasting for a couple months. The worst thing about it is that a lot of people were saying Philips were a nightmare to deal with and were even refusing in some cases to replace the proprietary bulbs. A lot of people got shafted.

    ibood discussion about HF3480
more ibood discussion about the HF3480
Amazon.com reviews with many reports of bulbs only lasting a couple of months

This light seems to be a different model down from the 3480 so maybe hasn't got the same problems?

EDIT: Seems they sold the HF3470 back in March as well but not many comments. One poster does mention moderators removing comments?

I got a wake up light via IBood around a year ago, the Medisana one & quite like it. Generally I'd wake up by the light part alone before the alarm goes off (light ramps up starting 30 mins before the alarm time). Works fine as a normal bedside lamp as well.

Assume the Phillps one would similar but as always do your own research!

I have one and I don't recommend it. The light makes a buzzing noise that wakes you before the light does.

I bought the HF3480 from IBood earlier this year and had no problems - maybe I was lucky. I find it great though, well designed and definitely a better way to wake up in the mornings. Just in response to a few of the previous posts (which may have been talking about different models), it doesn't make a buzzing noise, you can use it as a bedside light (though the bulb then mightn't last as long as the two years they claim and it's not replaceable in this model), it has a snooze function and a range of sounds or radio as loud as you like.
