2006 Ford Focus 1.6TDCi Key Fob

Hi there, I have the one key for my 2006 Focus. It was put in the washing machine by someone (not me!) in my jeans pocket. I tried it and it didn't work, I cant open the car with the key (something wrong with barrell in door or something) so I have no access to the car, I did the following:
Took it apart took out the battery and disposed of it, dried the open fob out on the radiator,got a new battery, installed, no joy.
Washed the open fob in deionized water (found this somewhere on the net, was nervous enough about doing it), repeated the drying process, put in new battery.

Now when I press the unlock button it seems to just lock the car again (relock it?) when I press the open boot button it does the same, when I press the lock button it does nothing. No joy in any button getting it open.

Does anyone have any advice? I'd be really appreciative.

Both of these seem to be for programing in new remotes, and require you to be able to get into the car, which the OP it not trying/can't do.

it sounds as though there is still a short in the switch.

when you open the remote, can you see the into the switch, or can you operate the switch directly on the circuit board?

If you cannot get it giong, the best thing is to go to a main dealer, and get a new remote. It will cost about €80 though

Hi, thanks both of ye! Kieran how would they be able to program the new remote to the car? Would they have to do a callout and break into it? €80 doesn't sound too bad I was thinking around the €200 mark if I couldn't get into it but I hope I'm the one that's wrong Thanks again in advance? Any chance it could recover overnight of it's own accord? If it does and I am somehow able to open it can I buy a spare fob and program it in? Can I program in multiple fobs to one car? Sorry about all the questions and thanks again! Nothing Good about this Friday for me ya know!!
