By what other names was WW2 known across the world.

World War 2 - Us, the brits, Americians etc
The Great Patriotic War - Russia
The Great East Asia War - Japan

Thats all I know but I am sure other countries have their own names for it. The African countries are bound to call it something different.

I think that it is known globally as the WWII / 2nd world war ...

The Great Patriotic War refers to the period of German invasion of the Soviet Union. The same way like it's known in Finland 'Winter War' and 'Continuity War'. That's what I've heard anyway.

In Italy it could be known as the 'African adventure' and in France as 'The Great Escape' :p
