    hello boardzies,

    Would any of you happen to know of any companies which specialise in on the street surveys for consumer trends and wants? I would basically like a few people to be able to approach people of different age groups and tick a few boxes on a form so i can get some valid research.

    Its something i could do myself, but i dont want to be biased with the people i ask, nor do i know if there are any regulations preventing people from going solo looking for their market research. anyway, for now im just enquiring about who the companies are, how much it would cost, and what services they offer.

    I dont know what questions yet i need to ask, so sound advice from experienced people is required.
    I would like an option whereby the results are compiled into statistics.

    any help appreciated.

    thanks in advance,

    Conor

    Hey,
    I think Millward Brown do this type of research

    If not, they would be able to point you in the correct direction!

    However it can be very expensive so ensure you will gain more from the research than it will cost you!

    If you're approaching it with that mindset / budget...maybe you would be better off doing it yourself!

    As the other poster has noted professional research can be v. expensive.

    Thanks Lads,

    I have many questions I would like to ask people, but i dont have the experience of asking the right questions, nor am I condifent that I could ask the right people in an unbiased fashion. my big hurdle really is knowing which are the right questions to ask.

    I don’t know what perspective you are coming from but there are several business texts out there that could help you;

    Any recent text from Naresh K. Malhotra (such as Marketing Research; an applied approach) will give you an in depth view of market research. Malhotra is widely considered to be the father of market research

    Also some good shorter texts that may be sufficient for your use;

    Research Methods for business students; Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill

    How to Design and Report experiments; Andy Field
