Ireland are in discussions to see if he's interested in a role of player/coach. Should be an interesting acquisition if he does come on board. Anybody with test experience would benefit the squad.

    I agree.

d'Oracle, is he that bad?, I have never seen him before, well I don't think I have, so what would he bring to out side if he does come over...

he's not the second coming of Ponting, but he is decent enough. He has a decent enough average in all formats and he is consistently [laying county cricket something only Niall O Brien does these days. He is also a really good fielder. Its a nice coup for Ireland though.:)

His brother though is proper rubbish. :pac:

A test average just under 40 for a New Zealand player is nothing to sneer at is it? ;)

Left his country in the lurch to earn money, not the type of player I would want in the team, but then half the England team have done the same leaving SA.

Nah, He is a competent batsman & fielder, who will never set the world on fire.
A few Mates in NZ used to have the craic ripping on him.

ICC if serious about spreading cricket should do something like offer a 3 month dispensation where players who have but longer play for a test side can play for an associate they are eligible for. Get us Joyce back in the squad pretty quick too. I'm sure theres prob a few others out there with scottish or ditch roots so it wouldn't be just for Ireland

Again, I'm not sure that isn't the case.
The rule is not designed to prevent players playing associate cricket.
If it came up, which it more than likely will, I don't think the ICC would stand in the way.
