They were on the 11th hour Wednesday night talking to Fanning and their reasoning was the fact that an album can take up to 2 years to craft and then when it's released it can be forgotten about after 2 or 3 months.
Whereas the A-Z series constantly keep them in the limelight for a year.
My own take on that would be to just make better albums :)

They're not bad though. I don't own any of their albums... Just the hits baby.
My image of them has always been of a band barely hanging on. They seem like they're always struggling for recognition.

    This is a tune though.
Yes bought album "free all angels". Patchy in places but when it was good it was very good. "Shinning Light" just terrific. A bit disappointed they have chosen not to release any more albums and for the reasons specificied above.

    This! ;)

I think it's a ****ing cop out, if you can't make an album good enough to stand the test of time, then your albums aren't good enough.

They are releasing the first 13 songs on an album called A-Z Volume 1, due out on April 19th.

1977 was the soundtrack to my teenage years!!

I know, totally sentimental but I seen them a few months ago in the button factory and they were amazing..

such fantastic songs and such a hard working band. Apparently they are taking the guitarist from block party on the road with them for their next tour..

One of the mysteries of life is why they never made it massive

    Love them :D

It's akin to what the Wedding Present did back in 92 so it's not a new idea. As Mr E pointed out, they'll be plopping them on an album - while people are still buying physical copies bands are always going to end up putting their songs on physical albums eventually.

imo, 1977 was their best album, was about 19/20 there abouts and seen them at the astoria in london in '97 or '98, still one of the best gigs i've been to, have had a few hits that have came close to that since, but nothing major to want me go out and buy a whole album, thought trailler was preaty special too.
