jeez relax folks dont have a hernia now. I suspect this will be deleted by the mod's. this could be the biggest electronic music forum in ireland but people just pussy foot around talking ****e. have the mod's no vision past oldschool and tech house, such a dissapointment for the medium you'v been givin. i know you'v been givin ''the charter'' but comon electronic music in ireland dosent revolve around what you mod's think is ''COOL' at the moment. cause this looks like a band waggon site. i hope this is takin in good spirit but i'd do a better job at modding myself and attracting more traffic.

Mod is derived from moderator, not "pr hoor". They're doing a fine job imo

    Dems be fightin words !

i dont think its the mods fault that tech house is the main genre, its what most dj's are playing these days, although i dont, and i dont get asked for it either. all i get asked for is riverside and the million and 1 copies of it.

traffic wise, its quite cause djing isnt as popular as it was 10 years ago. n-dubs and its ilk are what the masses want, and we're not gonna change their mind with tech house.
people want to let off steam, not nod along to some bongo's.
hopefully the predicted return of house will offer up enough hooks to catch on but so far we've only gotten the tripe that is memories by guetta.

Haha you think the Boards Dance section is the biggest electronic music forum in Ireland? Its one of the smallest like.

Its a boards site, so its heavily modded, plus the fact that there are other dance and electronic sites that have chat and gigs and downloads and various other stuff going on, I think they want to keep this totally focused on the music

Try www.irishclubbing.ie or www.emireland.ie if you dont want modding.

And on the tech-house idolatry... you get it everywhere. If you were posting eurodance would you expect to be taken seriously? Its just the way it is.

i have to say i agree with the original post , this board has tonnes of potential but its not really very interesting tbh . i started and stopped posting within a month or 2 because i could barely find anything on interest to post in . far too many how to threads and deadmau5 fans imo .

I don't see a problem with modding here-if I wanted to see a site populated with trolls who only seem to be interested in engaging in childish slagging competitions, or semi literate txt psts lolzz, I'd join that.
The how-to threads are great for people looking for info and are the posters are helpful

i dont think the op meant that he wanted trolls on the site , just a little more freedom of speech , which might result in more proper conversations about electronic music and its culture and not just "who's done pills ?" or "post your fave youtube vid" .

as far as the how to threads im sure they do help but you have to admit when there's 2 "what kbps should i play?" on the first page its a bit much .

to be honest im pretty straight to the point and ive never been banned from here.few warnings but thats it.

if you havent found any interesting threads to post in thats not our fault.

what has happened when youve posted one of these freedom of speech threads.does it get taken down?
ive never seen any on here.very few threads get shut now a days on here compared to the other boards forums.

if you want to talk about other genres then talk about them.if noones interested in the same genres as you dont blame the site.it doesnt have control over who posts on it.

This board gets a slagging on other sites im on but to be honest its definitely one of the better ones.theres members on here who have talked the talk and can back it up with experience and knowlege who are also willing to share this instead of bust the balls of anyone asking a noob question.

i enjoy the other boards but if i want an answer ill come here to be honest

    as francois said,go elsewhere

You sure you're in the right forum??:p

The real problem here is that we have to obey basic rules of civility and manners round here.
Everyone knows that most discussions could generally be solved by a good aul 'stfu you're an idiot' type comment, but boards doesn't really allow that. Now there's good reason for that policy but because of it, the place gets over-run with threads about Deadmau5, midi controllers and youtube favourites.

And to be fair to the mods, a lot of us have got away with a lot of stuff you wouldn't get away with in any other boards.ie forum.

Why doesn't the OP post a more imaginative thread then? Rather than simply criticising the existing format, why not put a little more effort in and try to create a debate about something a little more worthwile than mod-bashing????

Any forum is only as good as the members input.

We (da mods) have a role to play in as far as basic housekeeping in our forums and making sure that people keep somewhat to what the charter says - this is not a random forum that has no commercial value and members can happily call each other various names without any impact to the site owners. Also there is a serious consideration in terms of liable etc when it comes to discussion around people or businesses on a site with as much trafffic as boards.

That said, there is nothing to stop proper discussion around electronic music/DJing in general, be it considered 'hip', 'cool' or otherwise. I genuinely have a big :D to your reference to what you say us mods deem to be 'cool' - I'm 33, have a wife, two kids and and have no idea as to what the 'kids' these days want to hear! - I do have a huge passion for music and a large part of that is electronic music, I couldn't give a flying f*ck whats cool or not as long as I enjoy it, and I like to think a lot of the members here are of a similar mindset. Start threads about music you enjoy and use your ability as a member to spread the word!

Its not our responsibility either to attract traffic - you don't need to be a mod to that anyway. Why don't you attract some traffic here or go setup your own site and attract it there? - As the founder you could even have a title such as 'admin' or 'mod' - wouldn't that be neat? :P

And as a final point, we are not that strict here at all - I really don't know where you got the idea but happy to look at any areas you would like to point out.

    Like try A/H,

    Now there's a section censored....

We're not that PC here, we're just a tad more mature than other forums. It Boards.ie, thats how it goes.
