    I was like........''huhhhh?''

so is there anyone here who collected today? or will they be collecting sat or mon? I'm such a confused lad right now. :pac:

you used to be able to just get it into your bank account, but I suppose going to the post office for it isnt such a bad thing seeing as it gives me something to do. :pac:

Someone told me the reason they dont put it into your bank account anymore is because foreign people were heading off to other countries and coming back once a month to sign off and then heading back to their homeland, has that story even got the slightest bit of truth in it? or is it just another one of those old wives tales?

It would hardly be worth the money to keep flying back to Ireland. I'd say its bull tbh.

€800 a month welfare , cost of flight to Ireland from anywhere in europe €200 return at most.

Common sense is a complex beast, I often try to tame it myself, but it ends up kicking me in the face and running off with my trousers.

its one of the reasons alright. i knew of people working in spain that used to get cheap flights back each month to sign on alot of people were doing back then.

That's exactly why. There was massive benefit fraud from people from Northern Ireland and a lot of Eastern Europeans who would fly over to Ireland every 2 months to sign on!

If you've been on the dole for 6 months they will pay it into your bank account.

you have no idea of this phenomenon but as you say you signed on for a total of 10 weeks, were you on drugs during those 10 weeks, slight slip of the mind huh?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,107 ✭✭✭flanum

im just confused as to which day next week i can expect my wages to be paid into the bank, cos as per usual the wages department will **** it up with the bank holiday monday... they usually **** it up whenever there is a bank holiday!!!

eeeehhhh.... no. i was merely claiming my pay related social insurance back... money that i had.. and have ever since paid into the collective pool out of my hard earned wages.. on top of the tax that i pay every week...
