Is there such a thing as an accomodation agency?

I'm *hopefully* moving to Madrid in October for about 7 months, and I'm going on my own. I've never lived away from home, let alone abroad, so I'm really looking forward to it.

My mam, on the other hand, is not. She's convinced that if I sort out the accomodation on my own through any sort of newspaper or advertising website that something terrible will happen to me and I'll end up living with a bunch of psychos.

I don't know where exactly in Madrid I'll be living, but in general, I hope to be living in the city centre. The price of rent isn't really a problem, but finding somewhere to live will be.

Does anyone know if there's a kind of agency that do the vetting/searching for you for a small fee? I would prefer to live with Spanish professionals simply because I'm going over there to work and not to live with a bunch of rowdy erasmus students (because it's not Erasmus that I'm going on, I'm finished my degree in May, this is seperate to college)

Any ideas, please get back to me. Cheers.

I lived in Madrid last year and after a few weeks of fruiltessly goose-chasing accommodation I went with http://www.roommadrid.es/

They specialise in city centre properties, and the place I got was amazing and rent priced reasonably. Pierre, who works there, has fluent English and was great help in finding the appropriate place. Have a great year, I love that city :)
