N00B Friendly Airsoft Site Recommendations

    Hi Folks,

A friend of mine suggested paintballing for a mates birthday however after explaining to him how the sites make their money with Xc per paintball the idea of counting shots and not going Rambo paintball soon lost its appeal. I had known about airsoft for a while and after looking into it over the past few days it seems that the standard for most sites ranges from 500-2000 free BB's so ammo is definately less of a pain point.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a n00b friendly airsoft site which may have games geared toward the inexperienced as I think we would be running around like headless chickens in more MilSim orrientated games.

Also I wasn't able to find a complete list of kit that is rented as standard or can be rented for an additional fee on various airsoft sites websites. As in you will obviously get a weapon, cammo gear, eyegear etc but is that it or is other gear included as standard such as knee/elbow pads, walkie-talkies etc.

A few of the lads play CoD4 (I know, I know nothing alike) but as a result of this the ability to rent a specific weapon such as an M16 etc would be a nice bonus but not sure if this is possible.

Any and all feedback appreciated and if I got anything wrong please excuse my ignorance I am only just starting.

    Dave

@mie1324 - Sorry I should have said, we are based in Kildare/Dublin. From a website I came across with a GoogleMaps mashup Rathbegan, HRTA and Predator are the closest sites.

If you lookign for sites wround thew kildare area, 2 great ones that I can recommend (as they are the only ones I've been to) are either Oakridge or Moyvalley (MAZ). Personally, I would recommend MAZ for n00bs, as running up and down the hill at oakridge, under enemy fire, can be a bit daunting, but still very good site

Both can be found on a more comprehensive IrishAirsoftSites.com

As someone who has recently (well not too recently) got into airsoft, I'd recommend Fingal as a good place to start. The games they run, and how they split up players to try and even out both the skill level and the ages of the players ensures everyone has a good day. The games are turned around very quick, sometimes you just have enough time for a reload! Great landscape and well thought out games.

The same can be said about HRTA, but you'll find a smaller group of guys there, most would be more seasoned players. The games there are a little more relaxed, sometimes there might be 10/15 minutes between games. HRTA has moved to a new site, so you might need to check their tread for updates.

You also can't go wrong with the boys (and girl) from Airsoft Reloaded. Their setup in The Warehouse, which is now sadly closed (RIP) was NOOB friendly and, where I and many others popped their NOOB CHERRY!! :D

I learned a lot about playing Airsoft during my time in the 'house.

Which ever site you choose, make sure they always crono the guns, set safetly rules and give a quick talk on the rules of the game and how people will be dealt with if they break those rules.

Oh! lastly. I have never come across a site that supplies more than the basic stuff ie gun, mask, BB's and maybe the odd BDU.

Id reccomend HRTA as a great site for starting off in, its well run and very well layed out without having too much team based stuff that can be a little off putting for someone on their first outing.
Red Barn is also a brilliant site and Damien is one of the most hospitable people you'll meet, love going down there., :)

You'll get a warm welcome on any site you visit and lots of people willing to lend advice from one thing to another.
Main thing is just to get out there and make sure to visit all the sites you can. And have a ball doing it.Remember all the players started off new at one time.

i think your best bet is maz as they are running skirmish days where they get all single people not teams to play. this means you have a better experience you aren't just playing against a seemingly overwhelming force of experienced airsofters. and the games will reflect all this.

On my first visit to Red Barn last weekend and with over 100 players of all levels of experience , I was pleasantly surprised to see that they took lots of time to explain things to new players and made them feel very welcome.Their main focus was not how experienced you are or what kit you have , but the fact that you ARE playing.Well done lads.

I would agree The Quarry in Drogheda (not Shelbyville!) is a great site for players of any experience.
It was the first site i ever visited and its the place that got me hooked.
