Isn't Sky News HD supposed to be on-air this summer?

I reckon they've started to build the new set for the launch.

It's now all close up shots of readers and weather presenters. No video wall or different angles being used. No moving around to different desks either.

And the giveaway, the actual newsroom isn't behind the presenter. They are obviously in a very small studio and using chroma key (green screen). You can see the outline around the news reader.

Meant to be launching to coincide with the British General Election. So next week more than likely. Probably doing final tests and giving the studio a brushup.

Expecting an announcement next week when Brown goes to the queen to dissolve parliament. They've been rehearsing and fine tuning it for the last few weeks, expected to go live as soon as the election race begins.

SKY like to brag about how many HD channels they have in their package.
Just saying, don't keep your hopes up. But you never know.

i don't really see any advantage of a hd news service.

    A lot of reports seem
to be done with video phone technology.

HD is only good for sports & movies, and some tv series

Why would it be 720p when all other Sky HD channels are 1080i?

i hear that it'll be in 1080i too.
sky says that the new graphics will have a 3d effect. i don't know what they mean by this though.
Also i don't think that sky is going to use the same studio. they might mearly be stripping down the old one to use it for parts
