    Cork Team vs Tipp.
    1. Martin Coleman (Ballinhassig)
    2. Shane O'Neill (Bishopstown)
    3. Eoin Cadogan ( Douglas)
    4. Brian Murphy (Bride Rovers)
    5. John Gardiner (Na Piarsaigh)
    6. Ronan Curran (St. Finbarr's)
    7. Seán Óg Ó hAilpín (Na Piarsaigh)
    8. Tom Kenny (Grenagh)
    9. Lorcán McLoughlin (Kanturk)
    10. Tadhg Óg Murphy (Sarsfields)
    11. Jerry O'Connor (Newtownshandrum)
    12. Cathal Naughton (Newtownshandrum)
    13. Paudie O'Sullivan (Cloyne)
    14. Aisake Ó hAilpín (Na Piarsaigh)
    15. Pat Horgan (Glen Rovers)
    16. Donal Og Cusack (Cloyne)
    17. Conor O'Sullivan (Sarsfields)
    18. Ray Ryan (Sarsfields)
    19. Michael Walsh (Kildorrery)
    20. William Egan (Kilbrin)
    21. Mark O'Sullivan (Dripsey)
    22. Kieran Murphy (Sarsfields)
    23. Michael Cussen (Sarsfields)
    24. Luke O'Farrell (Midleton

Looks weak. I could win more aerial ball then that center forward line. Tipp be a few.

Hmmm. I'm trying to think like Denis..

Coleman is known for his long puckouts, I can see the Cork HF line moving out to midfield leaving space for Aisake to run onto.
Anyway the idea is to keep Sheedy guessing for May 30th as to how Cork will play.

I am glad Cork have put out a less than full strength 15 for this match. The team are still strong enough to win however. Both corner forwards are well capable of getting scores, while Aisake is due a good game. The half back line should be enough of a springboard to supply the full forward line with enough ball to do damage. Tip will want to lay down a marker for the championship so I expect a close match and I think Tip could sneak it.

    From www.tipperary.gaa.ie
"The Tipperary Senior Hurling team to play Cork on Sunday April 4th in the Allianz GAA Hurling National League shows 2 changes from the team which started against Waterford last Sunday. Michael Cahill of Thurles Sarsfields replaces Shane Maher at left wing back and captain, Eoin Kelly, who has recovered from injury, returns in place of John O’Brien"

    1. Brendan Cummins (Ballybacon-Grange)
    2. Paddy Stapleton (Borris-Ileigh)
    3. Padraic Maher (Thurles Sarsfields)
    4. Paul Curran (Mullinahone)
    5. Declan Fanning (Killenaule)
    6. Conor O’Mahony (Newport)
    7. Michael Cahill (Thurles Sarsfields)
    8. Brendan Maher (Borris–Ileigh)
    9. Shane McGrath (Ballinahinch)
    10. Noel McGrath (Loughmore Castleiney)
    11. Lar Corbett (Thurles Sarsfields)
    12. Gearóid Ryan (Templederry Kenyons)
    13. Eoin Kelly (Mullinahone) Captain
    14. Timmy Hammersley (Clonoulty Rossmore)
    15. Paul Kelly (Mullinahone)

It's good to have Eoin Kelly back hopefully he'll stay fit..
I think it will be a close game, both teams will want to lay down a marker for the championship. I think Tipp will win by 2 or 3. Mind you I said they would win last week...
I am looking forward to the game hopefully it'll be a good one.

Cork starting a scuffle again. Pathetic. Hate Cork with a passion. And Flah, hurling well? That was a terrible game.

It was a cracking game imo.

Cork center back line was excellent, as were Pa Horgan, Jerry O'Connor, Naughton and Shane O'Neill. Tom Kenny MOTM. Lorcan played well in the first half, was getting destroyed in the second, the Tipp number 8 going off injured changed the game imo, he was exceptional before he went off.

I think we can guarantee that Aisake will be number 14 come Tipp in the championship.

BTW, the GAA needs to do something about this 'diving' nonsense (RE: Fanning), start handing on suspensions after the game.

Well if they do they should stop the nonsense of a cork player going down 'injured' in injury time when they have the lead. Roll on may up the premier:)

Aisake was brilliant, beat Maher well despite getting a flak everytime for his trouble, He was double marked in the 2nd half.
It's a good sign Cork winning tight games, shows belief.

Cork in both finals now with a game to spare.

It was a fantastic game, some excellent scores on both sides, good intensity and pace to the game and even stevens all the way. What the hell more do you want especially for the time of year.

As a neutral I thoroughly enjoyed it. Methinks the result and your admitted bias towards Cork have clouded your judgement buddy.

Exactly. I can guarantee everyone coming out of the Pairc thought it was a cracking game.

Great game of hurling, especially the second half, some of which was played at near championship pace and intensity. From being 4pts up at ht to 4 pts down ten mins into the secone half , Cork really pulled themselves back into contention. Half back line - Curran especially won some great ball -got on top and the forwards completed the job. Given the team that took to the field I am very happy to beat Tipp - it was a few years since we beat them remember. Even better NOT to be playing them in the final as that would mean playing them 3 times in 4 games, not an issue now! Corcaigh Abú !!

good point about diving, many players go straight to ground if they know they have a good free taker on their team (eg richie power etc) and refs need to get on top of it but to try and claim fanning being hit in the you know whats was a dive is pathetic. tv replays showed he was the victim of a vicious belt in the sack right in front of the ref who should be ashamed of his cowardice in not giving the player a straight red. great game tho

Further proof that your knowledge of our great game could be written on the back of a box of matches, yourself and Mr McGrath should get yourselves straight down to specsavers.

I understand people are upset about the defeat, but a little decorum would be nice. There is no need to get petty and personal.

Horgan deserved to go for intent, but the contact was minimal (if there was any) and Fanning deservedly got booked for rolling on the ground theatrically. The ref and everyone else saw it very clearly - one second he is in agony, the next he is perfectly fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

    Perfectly fine thank you.

Im not upset. Well done to ye and best of luck in the league final. i just dont take exception to you calling our players divers when he was clearly struck and there was a number of incidents that this incapable referee failed to spot.

Ha ha ha. Whats the 'girlfriend' jibe about??? 'Get real' is a fairly generic term. Ok so, take your pick from, 'Snap out of it', 'Wake up and smell the coffee', 'Rise and shine sleepy head' its all good to me.

'Get real' is a bit of an American female teenager thing to my mind, hence the tongue in cheek response.

You didn't find anything odd about the way Fanning recovered so quickly?

Fanning tried to play on but had to come off a few minutes later. I reckon you diddnt even watch the match! And you obviously diddnt see the tv replays on the Sunday game either. Nobody is begrudging cork their win but for you to try to defend the indefensible is idiotic, leave that to the government.

I did, this is what I'm basing it on, it looked slightly worse in real-time. I paid sweet-**** all attention to the Tipp subs, it doesn't change the fact that he was rolling in agony on the ground one second and jumping up and down and shouting at the referee the next, nor does it change the fact that contact was minimal.

And didn't I say Horgan should have been sent off for intent? Nice of you to ignore that simply because you want to refer to me as an idiot.

good idea. it was a very enjoyable game after all. paul kellys goal was pure class, good to see him back although our forwards in general didnt win many of the 50 50s. brendan maher was flyin it in midfield till he got injured. interesting subs used by tipp - jody brennan, hugh maloney, david young, dara egan etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

I'm sure I said it already, and with everyone ranting and raving about the Fanning/Horgan incident, but if there was a changing point in the game it was Brendan Maher going off injured.

(p.s. Horgan's goal was better then Paul Kellys :p )

Id gladly admit horgans goal was terrific stick work but the ball fell to him whereas kelly ran with it so there wasnt a gulf in class. anyway were out to win the all ireland not goal of the season :p Good luck to cork in the league final. im happier with a focused competitive cork in this years championship but i just dont agree that Declan Fanning of all people was playacting. Ive made my point and thats the end of it.

Very different players really - Cussen is the superior hurler, but he is an inferior athlete, much slower and is very lazy. He can only full-forward imo, on the square. Aisake is more flexible, but there are some serious technical faults in his game, his striking and picking up for a start. Both are good in the air. I think Aisake is more likely to start come Tipp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,706 ✭✭✭premierstone

From a Tipp point of view I sincerely hope your right Orizio, I think Cussen is a far bigger threat tbh, he is far more direct and can take a score, just look at last sunday Aisake had Paraic Maher in all sorts of trouble but did absolutely no damage score wise, if Cussen had have won ball like that I have little doubt he would have bothered the scoreboard a bit more, oh and on a slightly off topic issue if i was Denis Walsh neither Aisake or Sean og should start, Sean Og was miles off the pace on sunday and didnt hit a meaningfull ball untill near the 50 minute mark

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Yes, I agree PS, Denis Walsh should drop our most experienced player, Cork's greatest wing back and our most consistent player over the past decade on the basis of one league game, who did you say's hurling knowledge would struggle to cover the back of a stamp again..

Not sure what the problem is, it hardly needs to be said that the dropping of Sean Og is utterly absurd, and a slight wum on the part of PS, as he full well knows.

I might add, the 'back of the stamp' remark came orginally from PS, not that it bothered people one page back. ;)

But I will remind all of you to attack the post and not the poster if you disagree with someone. I'm sure you're all adults and there's really no point in getting personal in all of this.

Oh sorry I forgot that only yourself is allowed to say anything even remotely negative about a cork player.

Most experienced player, what to hell has that to do with anything?? Maybe ye should play JBM full forward if thats your criteria

It should come at no surprise that on last weeks match program, one of pat Horgan's hobbies mentioned was snooker. He was indeed accurate when he tried to pot declan fanning's balls back in april!

2 great options alright. Cussen has more hurling in him but you can't say enough about Aisake's impact against Tipp.
