I guess this bit of news gone unnoticed in the last few days with all the banking shenanigans

It is not clear how the Greek bailout will be divided up, but under one scenario being mentioned, the EU would loan €15bn to Greece, with another €10bn coming from the IMF.

Based on Ireland making up 1.64pc of ECB capital, this would put Ireland's contribution at €246m -- if €15bn was the final figure..

yep thats right we are not only bailing out the incompetent fools in this country we also have to send a bit to help Greece

tho i suppose 250 million is nothing in this day and age when we throw dozens of billions and various black holes

    discuss

Probably part of being in the EuroZone

Plus it could be a form of insurance, because if FF don't cop themselves on we'll need something similar very soon, and we could hardly go begging if we'd refused to chip in on this.

€250m to help a country that's in just as bad trouble as us? Madness.

It's more symbolic than anything, we get far far far far more back from the EU.

We have to be seen to do something because we are EU members after all.

that's all it amounts to me thinks, a show. and the markets are not falling for it

interesting to note than an equal amount to the eu total would be provided by IMF

while on one hand yes i think its great that states would help each other, on the other hand its unfair (yes that word) that they might get a bailout while not seriously addressing their issues (or even pretending to be addressing them, like Ireland is ;) )
