The hut normally dispatch from Jersey and delivery times are 5-10 days. It depends on the item where Amazon will ship from but my advice to you is to go with Amazon (as long as it's Amazon themselves and not a marketplace seller)

When buying from Amazon the price will increase slightly before you checkout which is them applying the Irish vat rate instead of the UK vat rate. Orders from the hut do not have VAT included and if the package is stopped at customs you would be charged the VAT plus an admin fee of up to €20.00 at times whereas Amazon packages are not subject to this. If nothing else it speeds up delivery times from Amazon as they are not normally customs checked.

Aren't you allowed to import anything that is less than €18 in value?

Current threshold is €22.00 for VAT and €150 for import duty. ( Assuming it's not alcohol or tobacco which has no threshold )

The value of the item can be taken though from the invoiced charge from the site in question or by how much the product would retail for normally in Ireland. For example having an invoice showing as €20 for a DVD player that would sell for €150 here would have paying VAT on the €150 value of it.

It's rare that this is applied for smaller items like CDs and DVDs but in recent times there has been an upsurge in customs charges for dearer items like video games etc. Plenty of posts here from people who have been charged this.

Dont worry, i had ALL the extra charges counted for, Eg Amazon and there Irish Vat, free delivery though, The Hut is 99p per item but there is a £4 voucher i could have used floating around Bargain Alerts at the mo.

Im gonna go with amazon. its £2 more with Amazon but feck it iv bought so much with amazon before and nothing has gone wrong. Ill stick with them!
