Got my 16GB iPhone 3Gs from IOS a month ago,

Was listening to iPod on Sunday and the thing just went dead...as a dodo..

Battery was about 80% full...Wouldn't charge, wouldn't connect to iTunes...nothing on screen...it literally just died..

VF took it and are "repairing" it...meh...

    Any other experiences like this?

My iphone went like this Monday. It was charged to about 75% and out of nowhere it shut down. Wouldn't power on/charge/etc. Held the power and circle button together for 7 or 8 seconds & it came back on. Really hope it was just a one-off because there's no way I am paying more money to repair it.

The Iphones can freeze like that, It happened to me on christmas day (the day I got it) and truth be told I panicked a little, but usually you can fix it straight away by holding the circle button and the lock button at the top together for about ten or 15 seconds, not sure which, but it's happened to me a few times since and this works every time :)

there are other things too, like doing this with it plugged into the wall (with the adaptor, not plugged into a laptop, or any other usb device) and It should work, not really sure why VF would need to "repair it" though, It seems like a pretty straightforward freezing

you be surprised the amount of shops that dont know how to reset an iphone, so they automatically assume that it needs to go for repair.

actually, that goes for ipod/iphone users too.....straight back to the shop before consulting apple/websites. a little troubleshooting can save a lot of time and hassle.
