Private boosting - Yay or Nay??

Okay, first up I want to state clearly that I've not boosted or glitched before, and never would in a public game. I'm also not saying I'd do this either, but a post I made in another thread got me thinking and I thought I'd play devils advocate...

What are people's thoughts on boosting in a full partied FFA? As in if there were six mates on line, go into a FFA match with no randomers and boost. What got me thinking was how hard it is to get the SitRep Pro perk, but I guess I'm asking about all the different boosting options.

I think the primary thing people hate about boosters is that it is ruining your game through their cheating. Boosting in a "private" FFA doesn't have this affect, so is it thus less of a pariah? Any benefit you get from this only has a secondary affect on people you face in public matches, and they are completely unaware that you killed them due to you having boosted to get that pro perk. Boosting in pub matches has a direct negative effect on them, and p1sses people off.

Obviously it is still a form of cheating as such, because you are boosting your stats to gain perks/challenges etc that you wouldn't get at all, or as quickly, by playing the game "properly". But my question is whether people still think this is a big no-no, or whether it wouldn't be as big a deal given you aren't directly hurting anyone in-game.

I have my own opinion on this already, but I thought I'd throw out the question for a while before giving my opinion.

Boosting of any type is cheating and isn't acceptable

Boosting in "private" games? Not overly bothered but on balance would be against it.

Boosting in "private" games? Shoot ahead. Doesn't bother me at all.

Im against boosting but what people do in their own private games doesnt bother me at all , they can go kamikaze cliff jumping while firing their RPGs and akimbo 1887s for all i care.

Just to clarify, this isn't an actual private game. It's a pubic game but only with friends.

Private games don't affect your stats at all. Public ones obviously do.

So what I meant was if you had 6 XBox friends and went into a public FFA. No one else can enter, so you make it a "private" game in that way.

Boosting is cheating full stop, its the same as 10th prestige hack...

The only time I would boost is in an offline game because, when I play with my brother or friends I find it unfair that I have all weapons unlocked and they have to use the crap default classes..

Well as you know on one of my accounts i did go into an xp lobby and got ranked up to 10th. Nothing in my stats changed except for my rank and it was done in a private room.

As for public boosting i totally disagree with it, you are ruining other peoples game.

If eight people wanted to get together and boost , its up to them its still cheating as they are getting either a pro-perk by other means , and then if one in the party wanted to get a nuke you couldnt really say no.

    You need 8 for ffa

Oh yeah. So the question then would be if you had a full FFA lobby with 8 mates.

Well it is kind of been asked tongue in cheek. I'm interested to see what the opinions are though.

Im not bothered about when people boost in private, and to be honest booster hunting has become my new favourite pasttime when I get bored of playing matches properly :D I also take delight in being called a noob at level 45 then completely annihilating someone who's boosted their way to level 70 and cant actually play the game worth a sh1t or fall for the same tricks again and again.

I had great fun the other night where in a public FFA match I ran into someone down the back of the Skidrow map which is a booster hotspot, tbh I didnt even see him and thought he had me but he didnt shoot, so I didnt either and he thought I was up for boosting,so i followed him to a quiet part of the map, he got all set up, then bam, throwing knife in the back of the noggin, then after this I spent the whole game hunting him down and knifing him, he eventually quit, mwahaha :D

Throw in the "All Pro" title and it's a deal.

boosting is boosting. You are getting challenges/xp unfairly irrespective of whether or not you're ruining someones game....

Boosting is boosting. However, I do see your point with it not affecting other peoples games. Regarding the perk challenges though, SitRep Pro is fairly easy because nearly EVERYONE uses Claymores. Not to mention it helps you find boosters with ease (spotting their Tac Inserts). I do have my own point to make on this though. Say you don't really use the Riot Shield. Does the completionist in you (Don't say you don't have an inner completionist because we all have) simply let you walk away from that blue emblem that you get when you deflect 50,000 bullets or do you grab a mate every now and then, and hammer it out? Considering the amount of XP you gain from it, it is miniscule. Again, you're not ruining other peoples games but as stated above you're obviously gaining these challenges in an unprofessional way. But can you honestly say that you haven't been in a FFA with mates and NOT boosted at least one challenge? I boosted a Nuke with some mates ONCE. And I didn't feel very proud because of it. But there are so many elitists out there who claim to never have boosted, but they seem to forget about that one time when they got their mate to stand there while they got the "Misery Loves Company" challenge. Bottom line, it's up to you and your mates if you want to boost. So long as you're not ruining anyone elses game then I can't see why there'd be a problem.

Yes,yes i can honestly say that.

I can say that too - Never have - 13 days playtime and only 3rd prestige lvl 40

Really thinking about it tho as some of the challenges are ridiculously hard to get.

And for the past three weeks ive been trying to get a nuke - lots of 20s 21s 22s and a 24 last night until some XXXXXXXXX ran into me while I was dropping a claymore and it blew up in my face

    I almost cried.

I think people must be pretty sad, desperate and pathetic to have to boost.

Play the game for what it is, a game. But no I have to get the Nuke emblem or Fall Camo because it makes me better than you.

The mentality of a lot of the COD community is small time.

    That is all.

I work hard for my rank, it pisses me off to think someone is higher then me with almost no time or effert spent getting it.

I find that hard to believe, if it is true then fair play. But my point is that people see boosting as somehow affecting their real lives when in actual fact it's only a game. It doesn't matter whether you're 5th Prestige or 10th, if you suck at the game then there's nothing you can do. I find it hilarious when I beast loads of 10th Prestige players because they've obviously hacked their profile. Boosting is irritating but it's SO easy to hunt them out, so I really don't see why there are so many people complaining about it.

I've boosted a couple of challenges and found that after doing so, I've gotten them a couple of times again since Prestiging. The point I'm making is that everyone is so "against" boosting when it doesn't really change the player's skill level at all, in fact it hinders it because all they're doing is sitting in a dark corner with a silenced weapon and a knife instead of actually playing the game and getting better.

Why does it piss you off? You're working hard for your rank, so what if they're a higher rank, it doesn't mean they're better at the game than you or I.

I didn't realise I'd be away so much since Thursday when I posted this. So here's my 2c. I've never boosted at all at any level.

I voted for option b. I'm 100% against anyone that boosts in a public game and has direct affect on you. However, I'm not as staunch about someone jumping into a game of just mates to fill out some challenges. The riot shield deflection is a perfect example. I've never once used Riot Shield, and I wouldn't think I will either, but do I want to get the challenge completed? Possibly. But overall I don't think I'd do it.

Interesting voting numbers. Basically a 3:1 vote against it, which is a big majority.

Another one here. Never boosted, not interested. The worst thing about booster is that they really dont understand that what they are doing is wrong. As soon as I see someone boosting I immediately stop playing and make my personal objective to hunt them and stop them. The worst thing is when they send you a PM insulting and giving out, telling you to get a life and to f.... off... although it amuses me I find it pathetic. How can they be so blind, I mean, they were the one boosting, should I be the one giving out and insulting them?

An analogy for boosting will be: you waiting in the queue for hours to get, for example, tickets to a concert, after a few hours of queuing a guy, who wasnt queing, sneaks in before you, you decide to tell him and the guy turns around, tells you to fec.k off and pushes you away. Then when is your turn you realize that he got the front row tickets you were hoping to get... People who boost are normally immature and with a lack of respect to everybody else, yesterday I got into a good few games, and of all of them with the exception of 1 there were people boosting... enjoyed hunting them but sometimes is jsut too much...

i think taking away 3d person cage match will lead to more people boosting in the game

What game mode do you normally play? FFA? I have only seen people boosting maybe 5 times in seven and a half days playtime.

Since they've taken it out I've been finding it very hard to get into a booster free game. Kinda hope they bring it back again.

Yeah I have been finding a lot more in FFA now, but it now more widespread in other game modes.
Two days after they removed the game mode, I played in a match that four of the eight were boosting with each other. One guy headshoting two of my tac-insert team mates and another guy over looking the whole thing, (he was involved anyway). Took me a while to notice as I don't pay attention to non-knife kills, but I managed to turn it around and win the TDM game. Spent the next few games making it hell for the group, much fun and many 'we will hack you' threats. What annoyed me was not the fact that they were boosting, but the fact that the other people who joined ignored the boosting and played 1 vs 2.

*edit* I know it was a public match, but they were trying to keep it private by getting people to leave I guess.
