Mobile Broadband providers in Castlebar

    Hi there,

I recently purchased a new Laptop and I've signed up with O2 mobile broadband (I already have a bill phone with them) which I used in my gaff in Castlebar for the first time last night.

I have to say I wasn't impressed with the speed of it, just for general internet usage, and it was quite poor for streaming on the likes of You Tube etc. Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and is there any kind of a general consenus on the best mobile Broadband for Castlebar (Vodafone, 3, Meteor)??

    Any input gratefully appreicated.

    Cheers

Go to www.speedtest.net and test the speed of it. That will give you an average rating for it.
Let us know what it is.

Are you in a bad area generally for mobile phone reception?

No, phone coverage is usually fine on my O2 mobile. I did the speedtest last night actually, don't have it in front of me but I think it was something along the lines of 0.38mbps for download and 0.46mbps for upload.

    WOW - thats BAD!!!
I'd be back to the seller to be honest and tell them they are not living up to their end of their contract. Refund please!
Before you do so however, save a few of the speedtest results (keep copies for yourself) and shove them in front of the faces of those responsible.

you think yours is bad!!! look at mine. i'm in sligo. it's got a green light on it indicating the EDGE server. Blue is good, better than green. cities/big towns have the blue, while in countryside, the signal is green.
