I think I might have blown my Tweeter

Im using an Ampeg BSE 410 HLF (Bass) - I was playing it last night and the tweeter has started crackling like mad. It still works, its still putting out the high end frequencies - so im not sure if its actually blown or not.

I took the tweeter out and looked for anything obviously wrong, all the wiring looked fine.

Any ideas? Who's the best person to talk to about it?

Is it only happening when you jack it up or all the time? I saw a case where it was only happening at sortof gigging volume and it was a broken solder connection hopping on the top of the contact. It looked ok but once you moved the wire you could see it had broken.

I thought it might have been to vidration as well - so i lowered pretty much as low as the amp will go, and trimmed out all of the low end - still happened.

I had a word with alladins amps, definitely sounds like a blown tweeter. All i have to do now is source the part! Anyone know any european based suppliers apart from waltons?

after replacing the entire €90 tweeter unit the problem still occured!!

It was only then that I gave the crossover fuse a little tap and noticed it was broken, soldered in a €5 euro part, and im back in business. If a little annoyed!
