Rent allowance as a family

    I have 2 children 22 months and 8 weeks old, i am currently recieving rent allowance as a lone parent, my "ex" and i are back on good terms and we want to do things as a family, he is out of work and is still looking but no joy yet, i would love to be a able to have him move in and we recieve rent allowance as a family.....

    any advice on what rate of payment as a family we would recieve, and what rent allowance as a family i would be entitled to, or how and what do i need to do to arrange this?

    All advice and info appreciated!:)

    Go to www.welfare.ie and search for rent supplement to answer your questions
    If your circumstances change, you need to tell your CWO

    We did this last year. I was recieving lone parents and my partner wasnt my daughters dad. He was out of work last march and we decided to move in together.
    You need to give up your lone parents and get your partner to claim for you and your children as his dependants on his dole claim. You will be down compared to your lone parents and his dole. But essentually you will be up because then he can claim rent allowance on a home with 3 bedrooms for you all as a family.
    Once he has been renting for 6 months previous. I think this rule changes from CWO to CWO but go speak to them and they will tell you what the conditions are.

    your social welfare payments as a family 2 adults 2 children will be 385.70 a week. go to social welfare with your partner tell them you want to claim as a family.tell your cwo that your partner will be claiming as a family,your rent allowance will not be affected.
