Perks of being a TD or an Ex TD

    The Mail on Sunday reported that George Lee used his car parking space in Leinster House even though he's no longer a TD. This is one of the many perks associated with being a TD/exTD - you can still park in Leinster House. Apart from the pensions and high salaries and expenses - what other "perks" are there. I was amazed about the "car parking"

    wow what a perk, free car parking. The country has just been raped for over 50BN and you're complaining about car-parking?

    I can't believe people actually buy that rag.

    The people who have cut social welfare and told us we all have to make sacrifices are not prepared to give up any of their perks: you don't think that is worth complaining about?

    When did George Lee cut social welfare ?

    I'm just putting a 50,000,000,000 debt in context of a 5 euro per hour car parking space, lets get real here- there are far more important fish to fry.

    The Daily Mail is a rag full stop and dumb non 'stories' like this distract people from the bigger issues.

    Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves well that's my train of thought. As for you view on the Mail on Sunday - well it had a free Hello Magazine what can I tell ya.....:D

    The Mail on Sunday's a bit slow - it was mentioned here a fortnight ago and I'm sure whoever posted it got it from some other print outlet.

    Well in Lees case, he didnt even have the moral integrity to do the job he promised his constituents that he was more qualified than anyother candidate for two years or so. If he wanted to act the rat abandoning the sinking ship, he shouldnt utilise the parking facilities on the dockside.
    Asd for the rest, it just highlights how removed these people are from the realities ordinary life.

    What he is complaining about is the 'attitude of entitlement' on display, not the parking space.
    What annoyed me about this revelation is the fact that Lee went into the Dail claiming that he wanted to 'contribute to the nation' and have an impact on the type of politics we practice in this country, when what actually happened is the type of greasy backhander, nudge and a wink politics we practice in this country rubbed off on him instead, an it only took 8 months in the Dail for him to develop an exaggerated sense of self entitlement to whatever he could graft out of a TD's job now did it?

    George Lee , failed his constituents, served no useful purpose in the dail, damaged his party's reputation and swanned back to his cushy PS job but like Roddy Malloy in FAS, expects to leave with all the perks his hard neck can grasp as he swans out the door.
    It's insulting.
