As a regular reader to boards for some months now, I was shocked when I read this post, and I just had to register to post a reply, I am going to college in Dublin and have being playing the “poker in the pub” league for some weeks now trying to qualify for the July finals but to no avail, but now I see you are giving a seat to the winner at your game, how you or bigslick got this seat is a mystery as this 65k tournament is only for league winners, so there is not much point in me playing any more leagues if tickets can be got for winning a poker tournament (charity or not)

Fair point, I didn't feel the need to explain in the post, but one of the main organisers of Abbeyfest is giving up his seat to the event in a bid to attract more players. It's very hard to price enought people into our charity tournie without pricing others out, so we felt this would help attract a few extra.
Like I said, we're 50 mins from Dublin down the motorway, so why don't you come down and try you're luck? All for a great cause

A lovely gesture, for what sounds like a great and genuine event, unfortunately these charity events have a way of bringing out a lot of begrudgers who seem to lurk in the long grass but you have clarity on your side so thats that.
with neill of big slick on board this has all the makings of a great and professionally run event.
well done and best of luck:)..

great, posters & flyers due next week,

any help in terms of getting a crowd for this event would be greatly appreciated, want to get as many players as possible for this, and hopefully run it every year. Feedback so far has been very positive even at this early stage so I posted here to give it a boost.
