    Hi all,

I've managed to get dirt on the sensor of my D60, and I cant get it off with the air blower.

Is there a shop that will clean it for me in Waterford or Dublin and how much should it cost?

    Thanks a lot!

    Have the same problem myself.
Dropped into Conns in Clarendon street and they quoted €100 for a wet clean, a bit excessive I thought so didnt go for it at the time.
Was considering trying to clean it myself.

where did you originally buy the camera? Was it bought in a Irish shop? If so they might clean it for free, some do.

I have to say, reading up on it and looking at vids like this actually cleaning the sensor yourself does not seem that complicated (once you know what your doing and have the right kit that is)

But Someone like cons might be the only answer, however I would recommend Bermingham Cameras for Nikon owners as thats their speciality (although I dont know if they provide cleaning services lol)

If you buy your DSLR in Conns or Birminghams they say they will do your first sensor cleaning free.
These people will do a wet sensor clean free for you

I bought it in Argos when they were doing a deal on them a year ago.

Thanks for the tips so far!

Thanks a lot. I'd spotted that but Im not sure I'd be confident enough to do it myself.

I haven't bought anything in a camera shop in Ireland in years, and once in a while I see something that reminds me that it would be senseless to do so. eu 100 for a lens clean is insane.
I use eclipse pads & cleaning fluid from warehouse express, clean the sensor about twice a year, take 30 mins each time. I never get it perfect, but I get it good enough.... If you dont feel confident, then maybe somebody at your nearest camera club can help/demo it for you?

I've used swabs from www.photosol.com before and found they never got it properly clean, just moved the dirt around. Then I had it cleaned at the Canon roadshow the week before last and it's spotless. I wouldn't be arsed trying to clean it myself again.

Conns gave me unlimated dry washes and 1 free wet wash when I got my D5000.

    Haven't availed of it yet!

I bought my Olympus E1 over 6 years ago there and I was to get my first wet cleaning for free there also. Never needed it. Still going strong :) God I love that camera

6 years old and going strong? Fair play...

I have the Pads & Fluid from Visible Dust. Got them from the 7dayshop. Don't have to do a clean very often. Is really easy to do it when required.

My d200 is manky now, both cabain and dodgy cleaned mine and it didn't seem hard but still I'd be afraid to do it myself. Maybe a boards cleaning lesson...?

Do they do it while you wait or do you have to leave it with them for long ?
    Thanks

Thy guy in the shop said they have a technician that is there most days from midday to 4pm.
I think you can leave it with him and pick it up a few hours later.
