Long into history will this day be remembered as a black and bleak day for the Irish nation. Our unelected leader has committed high treason against his country and we are now staring straight down the barrel of 1930's depression.

Ireland has been bankrupted and Fianna Fail has destroyed our country.

    Sensationalize much ?

How about instead of spreading Daily Mailo tripe you actually explain yourself when you start a thread ? You know like a normal person would.

You aren't a taxi driver are you ?

Tell that to the next person that falls short on a medical waiting list and misses out on a vital operation due to cutbacks and money diverted to supporting the banks instead!
...In fact tell that to the last dead person that has been effected by money diversion.

    999 is our 911.

Is it not 112? I've never tried ringing it as that would suggest I have faith in our public servies.

Mr Gilmore told the Taoiseach that he believed the Government made that decision to protect the vested interests and to protect people with big property interests who were allied to Fianna Fáil.

This is the important part, wether he did or not that's another thing.

Politicians are scum, the ones out of power are just as much as scumbag as the ones in power. This fcuking halfwit Gilmore is just stirring shíte... Throwing out accusations, trying to give bad PR to cowen and his crew instead of actively working on a solution to end the crisis. Jesus fcuking christ, I wish I could go up to the dail and shake the fcuk out of these useless selfish bastards...

Gilmore, like the **** standing beside him, couldn't give a fcuk about the economy, why should he? He's rich. He cares more about getting into power than actually fixing this mess. May he, and other pieces of shít like him, die a horrible fcuking death.

    /rant

If you're serious, it's March. September is 5 months away.

Im actually relieved that they are valuing the loans they are buying with some degree of care. THey are buying up loan books for half the theoretical value should payments continue to be made. Additional funding that then goes into the banks buys the bank itself which may well be worth muliples of the current value in a few years.
I feel if they can get a good team in place to manage the non performing property that we are buying, using fresh thinking in relation to land useage etc, it is possible that alot of the funds will be recovered. Much of the Nama funding is for performing loans that will be profit making for the tax payer.
It should be noted that the funding is borrowed from europe for the bank crisis. This is not money we had or money that we realistically could borrow for day to day spending.
I feel that the whole issue has been blown out of proportion. The more important & immediate issue should be job creation. If the taxes start to flow, there will be no issue. The economy will pick up, property will be on an upward spiral, properties/loans connected to Nama might then look like covering themselves, the failures that the government will have taken control of will be available to sell on or available for public buildings such as schools, hospitals etc.
Now all this is the best case senario but its unfair to assume the worst outcome either.

    We are bankrupt?!

Fools, that Eamon Ryan was on Vincent Brown last night and I could have thrown something at the television. While I know he isn't Finance his answers were pathetic and I cannot believe that from now on we will have to give €2 billion to Anglo Irish Bank from each budget first and foremost until the debt is cleared. That is before health, education, social welfare etc, we are only going towards the deficit more and more, out with Fianna Fáil NOW!

    This country government is ridiculous.
