Where to find out if diesel engine fits a petrol model?

    Hi All,

I’m considering buying a petrol Ford Transit, which I would think is less popular than a diesel model. In the event that the engine was to give up, I would like to be able to replace it with a diesel engine (I suspect the availability of a petrol Ford Transit engine would be quite rare).

Does anyone know where to find out if a diesel engine fits a petrol model. (eg are there websites specifically designed to present this information in an understandable format).

(I’m presently awaiting email responses from Ford Transit suppliers).

Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks In Advance for all responses.

There is a diesel transit out there of every shape, colour & budget already. Why bother with a petrol one at all.
I have no idea how much you would need to change if you were changing from petrol to diesel.

    OP - Forget it

To change from petrol to engine, you'll need to change engine, engine mounts, 'box, rear diff, Fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, engine mounts, exhaust, wiring loom, ECU, Dash clocks, Engine Vacuum pump, probably rad, water hoses, throttle cable and a million other things, going off experience of engine swaps

Insurance could be a problem also as the payload capacity will have changed, and you may need to get it replated for load capacity.

It would be easier to buy a diesel.
