We have Sky, so next weekend will be like most weekends, only with a green jacket at the end and a bit more Gary Lineker!

Anyone know the situation as regards cameras/coverage? Will it be a lot of "our american counterparts are just gone to a break, so here's a shot of some leaves from a nearby tree"... or will there be some UK cameras to fill the gaps properly?

Probably been posted but Apple have a really good app for the iphone. It's free to:D
Just search Masters in the app store and you'll find it.

bbc have a couple of cameras, however don't believe they can show golf on them. The Masters allow very few breaks as they stay in control of their rights. It's not so much of an issue..

The Mrs looks forward to the masters because they show less of it than normal tournaments. This is why it's only my 3rd fav major. Love the wall to wall coverage of The Open.

You'd be amazed how NOT LIVE the golf coverage from the BBC actually is.
Noticed this in the past, anyone who uses betfair in running will know what i mean. Same goes for Sky but not quite as bad.

ya betfair is a killer if you have a golfer in the running and your on line,
    as well as watching tv

I wouldn't be really, the BBC coverage is as 'Live' as the US coverage, as they take the host feed. With a few secs delay to get back here. Nearly all the golf you see on every channel is recorded and played 'as live' a couple of mins or 30 sec old or more. It's the only way to cover all the different events happening on all the different holes at the same time. Anyone who ever watches golf sees this when you see what caused an earlier roar a few minutes later.

A live software feed of scoring will always be ahead.

Ah not absolutely true, i remeber Setanta showing some shots a good minute before the BBC during the OPEN. I have no problem with the time delay, so many different matches so it cant all fall into place. But sometimes the editing can be shocking IMO, more intrested showing some old has been at +10 than some newbie 2 shots of the lead.

Agree with the second bit but the first sounds unlikely, the BBC host broadcasts the open and provides the cut feed with graphics to Setanta, so it should be impossible for Setanta to be ahead. Unless BBC went to an interview that wasn't on the host feed or something?

Editing is a tough job on golf, they have 40 or so cameras all being constantly recorded and a few people shouting what 'good' or interesting things are happening, the editor then has to make quick calls on what to show, always with an eye on trying to get back 'live' asap. They are also providing multiple live feeds for red button etc the whole time.

Then to cover as much as they do they have to change editors the whole time to allow for breaks etc. Golf is a tough sport like that.

For those of you with Sky Digital, check out the ESPN Classics channel. For the past few nights they have been showing masters films from years gone by. Last night was Sandy Lyles victory in 1988 and the night before was Greg Normans demise in 1996, which is the first masters that I remember. Well worth a look.
