Just got a weird random phone call this afternoon. The claimed to be from Pc Doctor or something and said that if I am using Windows, that there is harmful bugs and viruses going around and said to bring it to a technician to check it out. It came up as a weird phone number too - 001204.

Anyone else get this call because it sounds very fishy to me???

I just got off the phone with one of these jokers. I humoured him for a while to see what his end game was. He wanted me to go into my even viewer and kept insisting that my machine was infected with a virus and I kept telling him. my pc was fine but he kept insisting that there's no way I would know that. I asked him where he got my number from and he said from the Eircom online directory. He said I had broadband and I asked him how he knew that and he said because I was in the Eircom directory. I told him I wasn't with Eircom anymore (voip now) but he insisted that I must be because I'm in the directory. It was from 001220. I reckon at some stage he was going to try and get me to give him access to my machine in some way, through remote desktop or something. I just hung up on him in the end. I can see how something like this could work with people are not very pc literate and gullible.
