I saw a truck with 3 new model troopers on the back, all in various states of destruction heading up the M7 last week.
There must be a good few taking advantage of the offer on the D-max.

Over 30 have left our garage, some with no engines, doors missing etc

    Thats what these were like.
I'd say you don't miss them.
It's pretty clever of Isuzu to make sure their mistakes are buried, at the same time selling new D-maxes.
I wonder is there an opening for someone selling derated leaf packs for the back of the D-max to make them comfortable for general usage?

All you have to do is remove the extra leaf that Isuzu Ireland have added. It is really obvious which one it is too.

The Koni's they fit are adjustable and can be turned down

15k ex vat for the manual and 16k ex vat for the auto after scrappage , the scrappage is 7.5k

do you have to have an old Trooper really though, or will they just give you the 7.5k off regardless?

No you have to have a 3.0l

From what I can see (but don't quote me on this) you don't even have to have an engine/box in it. You DO need the log book for it though.

I believe there is jeeps being pulled out of hedges all over the country. I think it will be 7 weeks before there is any more DMax's being delivered to the country

What's happening to the old 3.0's? Are they being crushed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,282 ✭✭✭✭Eric Cartman

you need the trooper with a log book, and it can be the 3.0 or the 3.1 just has to have a vin number, logbook and resemble a trooper, running or not

3.1 cannot be used in the trade in. That is the official line anyway according to a salesman I just asked

But what's becoming of the 3.0 litres when they're traded in?

Isuzu want them back, as to wether they will ever leave the country, that I don't know

considering this 3.0 only news i will have to find another trooper , anyone know of a non running 3.0 about ? ive got under 1k in cash im willing to throw at it and the less the better

What kind of condition are they accepting for scrappage? I had a 3.0 trooper that the missus wrote off just before Christmas and I changed for an 06 D-Max. Something tells me I jumped too soon.

I have seen a lot of crashed ones head for Dublin.

You should find a buyer for it fairly handy now. Think they are making 1 to 1.5k at the minute with a logbook

It's long gone at that kind of money alright, it was broken for parts

and its ever increasing :( id pay up to about 800 for one, i know im getting a good discount but its still 800 euro for a bit of paper and a pile of metal , if this scheme was canceled in the morning some of them that currently fetch 800 would be lucky to get 200

A scruffy 99 3.0 SWB went for 1500 down the road from me about a month ago, it wasn't even test driven... thought it was madness at the time... all obvious now :D

I guess it serves me right for my procrastination. I've been muttering about getting a 3.0 litre with a blown engine for a good while. They're a super jeep apart from the 3.0 litre and its issues.
