Ghost image on iPod Touch startup screen

I purchased an iPod Touch in early February. Version 3.1.3. The unlock screen has a ghost image behind the time and date. I think it says "11:18 Saturday 13 February" The screen autolocks after 1 min so I don't think that the text has been burned into the screen. I have done a full reset but no change. Any ideas?
