Just something that got me thinking last night, a person dials 999 as there home as been broken into and both the robber and home owner have been injured and both have been stabbed. One ambulance and a gardai car arrives. Both persons are similarly injured and heading towards critical.

I am going to presume that the homeowner gets brought to hospital first, presuming that the ambulance can only take one person and the gardai car needs to secure the scene?

Triage by the Paramedics on scene. Its their call. Most criticial goes first, doesnt matter who that it.

(Thats the official party line, you wont get anymore than that im sure....;))

And preservation of life takes priority over scene protection, always.

Its not up to the guards on scene to play God, paramedics treat at the scene and Im sure would try as hard to save both people

Sorry I mentioned the gardai having to stay as in they cant stick a guy in the back of a patrol car and follow the ambulance, as moving him without the proper care could/will kill him.

No 2 ambulance option .... Damn cutbacks

I am sure ethics would dictate the paramedics take the most seriously injured first. Doing otherwise would be taking on the role of a judge.
