Identify a car for me

Maybe someone here can identify a car for me! Was in front of me for a short while this morning - no pics, sorry!

Think it was some form of Japanese 'rice rocket' - square plates, boy racer'd up with skirts and enormous exhaust. Pretty sporty looking. Unusually though, it was a large (like, touching 7 series size) 4 door saloon. All branding etc removed from back (hence me asking here!). 98 reg IIRC. Now I'm absolutely no fan of 'boy racer' cars, but this looked the business!

    Ring a bell for anyone?

There were 4 door Skylines made, very rare over here though. Also they wouldn't be close to a 7 in size.

Legacy B4 RSK? Sporty Saloon, but wouldn't be approaching 5 Series size, let alone 7.

I think RoverJames may have it. Think it was probably a 4 door Skyline alright. Looked quite like this except in wine and different rear lights (didn't see front):

As for it being 7 series size - well my wife says I'm always overestimating sizes! :D;)

Maybe it was a Toyota Chaser.

Actually, could be that too (what a crap name for a car!).

there's a couple of modified black Chasers going around, they look more imposing in the flesh.

Where abouts was it? The large 4 door jdm saloons like the above sloon skylines, toyota chaser/mkII(same car) and even the Nissan stagea(essentially a skyline estate) are becoming popular in the modifying scene here(proper that is, not the boy racer stereotype)

If it could have been a Chaser or Skyline it may have been a JDM Accord, debadged, lowered with a bucket of an exhaust it is hard to spot the difference unless you see them regularly.

Def not an Accord. I'd say it was the Skyline alright - it had skirts pretty much exactly like the one in the Youtbe vid I linked above - wonder how they got on with the speed bumps in the estate! Saw it in Cobh, Co Cork.

Saloon skylines are about a foot longer then an accord, and thats the new model accord too. Chasers are a couple of inches longer then a skyline again!

Chaser was the first thing that jumped to my mind. Mighty powerful cars!

You might be right, these figures don't agree with you though.

    Chaser saloon

    Length4715 mm185.6 inWidth1755 mm69.1 inHeight1400 mm55.1 in

    Skyline Saloon

    Length4620 mm181.9 inWidth1675 mm65.9 inHeight1390 mm54.7 in

    Accord

    Length4813 mm189.5 inWidth1816 mm71.5 inHeight1450 mm57.1 in

    That's a 2002 Accord too.

In fairness I suggested the car may possibly have been an Accord, if the chap reckons the Skyline or Chaser is the size of a 7 series it was definitely an option worth mentioning.

The above accord is the US model which bears no resemblance to the euro/jdm model and as for skyline 2.0gl with a 1952cc 4 cylinder engine , that is from the mid 80's which is not a skyline that would ever be seen here.

My above referance was in relation to R33/R34 model skylines versus jzx90/100 model chasers versus cl7 model accord. I'm well used to looking at all those models everyday.;)

Explains why the branding was taken off.

    :p

Well you did mention a new Accord in one of your posts, a 2010 Accord in the following dimensions

    Overall Height (mm)1440Overall Length (mm)4726Overall Width (mm)1840

Which in longer than the 1998 Chaser Saloon I linked to, seems as you mention the R34 slyline I did a quick google and found the dimensions of a 1998 Skyline R34 saloon, for your perousal..
    http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=183777

    Length4705 mm185.2 inWidth1720 mm67.7 inHeight1375 mm54.1 in

    Interesting reading

I then did another google for an older Accord
    http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=76274

    Length4585 mm180.5 inWidth1750 mm68.9 inHeight1430 mm56.3 in

Less than 6 inches shorter than an R34, but wider and higher, so from the rear the R34 is hardly much bigger, in fact 'twould be smaller.

    :)

Just in case we are forgetting why I'm bothering
Skylines and chasers are alot bigger then accords!
