It is,every little piece is perfectly made, and he seems to not get caught out with anything. The way they condensed the beetle shell in every way is nuts, and still keep all the dimensions.:)
This will be some car finished.

    Amazing.

Not detracting from it, but I'm not really suprised at the neatness, detail etc of the metalwork, the guy's obviously a sheet metal worker/fitter or some such and is well within his comfort zone - witness the body shell welding for example.

What has really impressed me is this guys ability to visualise a concept and actually make it happen without major reworking on the way, I mean, fitting a LS 400 running gear and ancillaries, dash etc, inside a cut down Beetle shell on a home made chassis? He has made it such a smooth process its bordering on unbelievable.

Only right the US guys gave him their peer award.

Hats off from me anyway :o

Actually he is not, this is the first project he has worked on where he is doing metal fabrication, up to now he has just messed around with engines. The main thing he has going for him is that a mate of his has an Engineering shop with all of the equipment which makes life a bit easier but all of the design work is his own, he is a bit of a whizz on CAD which also helps.

(They are my legs you can see in the last picture at the end of the van, That was one hairy operation taking the Beetle body of the Chassis) I give him a hand now and again when he needs something held in place or lifted.

I can say that the build is even more impressive in the flesh and will be some yoke when it is finished.

agreed, I saw it there on Tuesday and aside from the chopping and cutting of a beetle bodyshell to enclose the thing, the guts of the car are all home-brew designed and hand-built by the owner. Some really clever use of CNC technology to make brackets and bits and pieces. This is already a great project car, it'll be an awesome custom car once finished!

I wait in awe at what he might do next, one talented dude IMHO.
