Rathfarnham traffic lights CCTV

I noticed today that the traffic lights on the road beside Rathfarnham shopping centre at the junction all have new big CCTV cameras installed and pointing down at all the cars. There is 5 or 6 of them in total ontop of each set of lights. Are they just standard CCTV or something more comprehensive? Like red light cameras etc? Bit unusual to see them all in one confined area.

I live in the area, those lights were out last night. I wonder why the cameras are there?

although im not from rathfarnham i wouldnt say there anything to worry about.

Theres cctv cameras all over clondalkin linked into the garda station and ive never heard of anyone getting done for a traffic offense there more to do with just keeping an eye on the general goings on just a nanny state thing.

Theres one on the set at the end of the grange road pointing towards nutgrove. Its there years.
