Midland Triathlon Club are running the Jealous Wall Duathlon on 11'th April at Belvedere House in Mullingar.

The format is a 5km run, 20km bike and 2.5km run. I did this last year as my first ever event and totally enjoyed it.

    The link is below.

Any idea of the bike route? No map on the site, that I can find

I can't find the map, but it's a fairly simple triangular loop.

You turn right at the gate coming out of Belvedere and then left after a hundred meters or so (N52 ?) and then up to the first roundabout, first left then to the next roundabout, first left again and you're back on the road where Belvedere is. Go past the first time as it's two loops, each is 10km.

Yep, thats the route - you pass the golf club and Bloomfield Hotel twice - but dont forget thats its 1 km from the gate of Belvedere House up to transition so save something for that!

Anyone know what time registration on the morning of this duathlon is on?
Or what time transition closes at?

Have emailed them, but no reply yet.

    Cheers,

    NT

Trying to remember from last year so these wont be exact times but I think registration opened about 8.00am. Tranistion will probably close about 9.30 giving time for the race briefing, etc.

Do you mean enter the race (all athletes have to register on arrival)? As far as I know there is on-the-day entry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,454 ✭✭✭mloc123

Yeah, sorry.. entry. I might do online just to be sure.

I'll be marshalling. Looks like the weather will be kind to us anyway - best of luck!

Anyone know for sure if you can pay and enter this race on the day? I have emailed the contact address but no reply yet???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 85 ✭✭Ra1ph

Got an answer to my question. It is OK to pay and register on the day.

Hey mloc, I am heading along to this alright.
    Also doing the north tipp.

Lets hope the weather stays good.

Big thumbs up to midland tri on this. One of the best organized races I have seen. Fair play to the draft marshals, must of been 15 motorbikes out on the route. If ck tri is as well run I am looking forward to it, place pending.

The run route was tough, if I see that hill from the lake up again I might cry.

Easy to see why the call it the Heartbreaker!!! 4 times up that hill was murder!!!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I'll pass on your comments. I was the guy standing in the woods telling you to be carefu on the corners.

Sorry I couldn't answer any questions on this thread earlier. I was away all week with no internet access.

They'll be on the Midland Tri webpage anytime soon, but aren't there yet (and as most the comittee are down the pub at the moment, I'd guess they won't be there tonight !).

    Mloc,

How you get on yesterday? Was it the perfect warm up for Nenagh?

Fair play to Midlands Tri Club. Great event and organisation. How you managed to secure that weather I don't know, but nice one.

Sign me up for next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,454 ✭✭✭mloc123

I think I might have made the top 20... but have probably jinxed that now, time was around 73 minutes. My running was slower than I wanted but I think the combination of trails and hills might have added to that. Should stand me for neanagh I hope.

How did you get on? The weather was great... maybe even a little too hot :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 399 ✭✭estariol

....hmmm well I came home in 70:10 and was outside of the the top 35!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 583 ✭✭✭NeedsTraining

I got on good, came home in about 67 minutes, so very happy with that. Legs are feeling the affect of the hills today though.

I am all set for 2 of the 3 legs in Nenagh now, but water is not my favourite place :D.

Estariol, where did you get that placing? I don't think there were 35 home in under 70 mins.

Could be wrong but as I was leaving last transition, the announcer said top forty were through transition and I passed about 4 people on the last run!....know for sure when the results go up

Only thing I know is that I took 90 mins but wasn't last!!
Happy out with that. Those hills were a killer. The cycle was easy by comparison.

    Precision Timing?
Not very precise in getting the results out.

Any idea when they will be available?

The results should be up soon, probably today.

Do you think the results will ever be posted for this race?..It's a pity 'cos it was such an enjoyable morning!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 583 ✭✭✭NeedsTraining

The results were emailed to me yesterday. Did you not receive a mail?

There was an issue with the overall timing, but the positions were 100% correct (or so the email said anyway).

Timing was a minor glip on an overall successful event. I hope people don't old the timing against the Midlands club or the event.

Never got an email. I only registered on the day so maybe that has something to do with it.

    PM sent

27th for me, knew I jinxed it... ohwell.

Great race, timing is disappointing but these things happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 493 ✭✭Redjeep!

The results have just been posted on the Midland Tri webpage.

As other people have said there was a hardware problem with the timing so that the final run time and the overall time isn't known. I can only pass on the clubs apologies for this.:o
