Anyone been to Summerslam?

Just wondering if anyone here has been to Summerslam, specifically the one last year at the Staples Centre.

Was it much good? What's the Staples Centre like as a venue? Where did you stay?

yes I was at Summerslam last year in the Staples Centre, I was in La at the time so thought I'd catch Summerslam aswel, they had fan axxcess there which was cool, first time since mania and it was outdoors beside the staples centre. I didnt actually have a ticket as the event was sold out! scalpers were lookin for outrageous prices, so I got in line at the box office for any returns/no shows and got a seat 12 rows ringside by the aisle which had a great view as its not that big a venue.

stayed somewhere local as I had no car and had to stay somewhere close, if I were doing it again, id get a car and stay in another area as staple centre is downtown la and is very rough, not a lot to do.

think i might go again this year! v unusual two ppv held in the same venue consecutive years, the only other time that springs to mind is wm 4 and 5!

I read I think it was in Power Slam that WWE want to make the Staples Center the home of Summerslam becasue it's in LA, and that it will bring the local Celbs out to the biggest party of the summer.
Celbs like Jemery Piven who called the show when he guest hosted Raw "SummerFest".

the one where hhh returned as well as rey

it was ok.but personally i won't spend money to go see summer slam unless it is in nyc

i rather spend the money for my trip to mania

unless i get a super super cheap flight i might consider it

yes been to summerslam and been to staples center, though not at the same time

if you have been to any of these ~20k indoor arenas such as men in manchester or o2 in london you know what to expect from the staples

staples as someone else said is in downtown la, i wouldn't recommend staying downtown at all personally, parts of it e.g. around 7th street (greyhound station) are a warzone, whenever i stay in la i stay west hollywood

wwe treat summerslam and rumble like normal ppvs, mania is the only one given special treatment and buildup in the days before the show

How did you get to the Staples centre from West Hollywood?

but if you are thinking of using public transport probably best to get the metro from hollywood blvd at highland and get off at the 7th metro station, its then less than half a mile walk from there or if you don't want to walk you can get the light rail from the 7th street metro station which stops across the road from the staples

word of warning, public transport in la is a disaster, don't plan any trip to the city around it, there is however a bus that goes from Beverly Boulevard (where i stayed first time in la) to downtown past the staples center, will look for the number, i think its 45 but i could be wrong
