I've only found this out now by chance, so just posting it here in case anyone else is like myself and didn't hear about it. Tis strange as Ticketmaster didn't send any cancellation info like they normally do.

Gutted as I was really looking forwward to this gig :(:(:(

Last I heard they'd cancelled their European tour but not Ireland or the UK. Are you sure?

edit: oh it is on the Academy blog.

I also thought it was their Euro dates only... but not UK and Ireland.

Their Myspace still has uk and Ireland dates scheduled.
Surely they would have removed these when they wrote their blog saying the Euro dates were cancelled?

    EDIT: from academy website:
Islands postpone UK and Irish Tour due to family bereavement
Islands have had to postpone their UK and Irish dates. The band have issued the following statement.

"We are very sorry to say that Islands have had to cancel and postpone their UK Tour. They have had a family bereavement which has made the tour impossible. The band plan to make it up at a later stage and play to all their fans"

Tickets purchased will be valid for new dates and are fully refundable from all points of purchase.

I know...I read the same on the Islands website and there was no further update to suggest that the UK/Ireland dates were cancelled too. Luckily I decided to see who was supporting them...that's how I found out. I'm just hoping they reschedule the gig for a date that suits me...I plan to move away later in the year.
