Hi lads just wondering if anybody will be targeting an Unusual species for the Year as a challenge.

As I only do freshwater fishing I'm gonna target Tench and Char as a First.

On that note has anyone here ever caught a Char in Ireland??

This website gives info on char, it's a bit hit and miss going to a particular lough. If you really want one I'd wait until halloween then go to Lough Eske in Donegal, you're guaranteed to get one there in the first couple weeks in november.
If you want an unusual species go to Lough Melvin and try your hand at two brown trout sub-species the sonaghan and gilaroo.

Chub is a target of mine for this year, assuming there are any left in the Inny.
