Does anybody else think that the EI CPD courses are a bit too expensive. There are a few I would like to do but at €750 a go for a 2 day course they are way out of my price range. In the current economic climate and with so many unemployed engineers hanging around on the dole, could EI not bring down their prices and make these courses more accessible to those of us who need to upskill in these trying times to make us more appealing to employers at some stage in the future.

off course, absol rip off. I think engineers ireland are living in their own world, CPD budgets are nill for most companies at the minute, there was a course on cycle design manual coming up, for a few hundred, silly money for what you ould learn

engineers can't afford the reg fee each year, never mind the cost of course

Have been on the student rate for years and will do my best to limit
myself to nothing more than Postgraduate/Unemployed.

    Why pay more?

(I will be adopting the same approach with the IEEE)

I cant afford the membership fee to even get to use it. €32 a week on the dole dosent stretch too far!!!

    Hey godtabh.

I used the 175e voucher in February for a fire design course. No problems at all.

And while I am on about it, the NSAI courses are also ridiculously expensive. Over €1000 for an emergency lighting course. I dont know about any of their other course costs but I am sure they are similar.

Engineers Ireland subscription is €35 for the unemployed and all courses are half price. I still have problems paying for it but at least it's low enough to go if I really want to. I used the €175 voucher earlier this year without any problems.
