It seems very strange that you have only had two periods in the space of eight months. Have you always had irregular periods? Are you underweight? When was the last time you took a pregnancy test as a matter of interest?

You should probably get your doctor to do a pregnancy test to be on the safe side (at the same time you have your STI tests done). In answer to your question, an iregular cycle is not correlated to the effectiveness of the MAP but seeing as you have such irregular periods, it will be very difficult to tell when you are ovulating.

A lot of over the counter pregnancy tests are not effective until 9 days after your period was due. Which would mean they might not be effective until around 23 days after you had unprotected sex. A pregnancy test by your doctor can tell much sooner.

I'd suggest you see your doctor for both a pregnancy and STD test, and make some enquiries about your irregular periods. Only a qualified professional can put your mind at rest.

you need to take a breath! it's scary waking up and not knowing what happened alright but you are NOT a slapper or dirty, and you need to stop being so hard on yourself. you got drunk and made a stupid mistake, but you're not the first to do that and it won't be the end of the world.

good job on getting the MAP for a start. it's very effective, the failure rate is between 1-3% [and better the sooner you take it]. so you are probabbbly okay babywise, but ask for a test from your doctor to be on the safe side of course, especially seeing as your periods are so irregular.
and glad you plan to get an STI check as well -again, don't freak out, as the most common ones can be treated easily with some antibiotics so there's no point driving yourself mad with worry in the meantime.

as for your boyfriend... while you might decide you want to tell him, bear in mind you are broken up at the moment and so you are certainly not obliged to tell him anything about your sexlife. i certainly wouldn't -especially if you think he's going to judge you for it.

ok i made an appointment at the clinic but the earliest is only 3 weeks time so dunno what to do until then!ive been having really bad back pain today and feeling generally crappy would this have any thing to do with the MAP, i cant remember feeling like this the last time i took it?

The MAP can cause a broad range of symptoms, including backache. If you're really worried/feel any worse, make an appointment asap with the GP who prescribed it to you.

oh god could it mean something bad if it lasts longer?

You need to go to your GP, nobody here is qualified to tell you. Hopefully you will be fine, but better go and seek professional advice as they are qualified to help you.
