GoWIII keeps crashing

Playing away on the game yesterday, and just as I finished the
flying up the chains of Olympus
part, it hung. The music was just looping around and the spinny loading thing was spinning incessantly in the corner. I left it a few minutes, then took the game out. Looking at the silver side, the 'grooves' looked a little warped to me. So I stuck it back in the box and returned to HN from whence it came.

By the time I got there, a few lines (faded scratches) had materialised on the disk, so I had a hard time exchanging it, but I managed to get another copy. They showed me the disk and it was fine. I went home, plugged it in, game crashes at the exact same point (I even went back a couple of saves and same problem). And again, when I take the disk out, the grooves are slightly warped. This is after about 10mins maximum, I'd say, so I can't imagine it's a heat issue. I stuck in my Uncharted 2 and played it for the same amount of time, and there's nothing wrong with the disk when I remove it. Even now, 20mins or so since I took GoW out, it's still warped.

    Any thoughts?

I went to Gamestop this morning, and they opened a brand new disk there and then, and whatever I'm seeing on the GoWIII disk, I could also see on that disk. It's just a slight wavering on the back, it only seems to be this disk that has it, or it's me, I dunno.

Either way, it's unrelated to the crashing problem, I'd say, and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my PS3, so I've deleted all the game saves and will start from scratch tonight. If it was any other game, I'd be annoyed, but I kinda want to go back and kill that big bugger again :)
