The Sopranos question

    Started watching The Sopranos and thoroughly enjoying it!

    On episode 7 of Season two now and have the following question (possible spoiler):
    Big Pussy all of a sudden seems to be talking with the Feds?? He met a friend at a party store and had to make up an excuse of why he was there with this guy that his friend had never met. And now they are telling him to wear a wire at TJ's confirmation. My question is, when storyline start...I'm sure I missed something but when\how did it start. Is it that he was the rat from the start..? I thought the killed that other guy cos he was the rat

    I get confused with some of storylines especially that one, can't help you really but maybe the synopsis on imdb will, i always read that after an episode to find out what those crazy gangsters were up to

    In season three they discuss how yer man got flipped and have a flash-back sequence set in Miami how Tony had to step in to bodyguard his Uncle during a mob-conference because yer-man suddenly became unavailable.

    Pussy went missing for a awhile, he came back with a story about being in Puerto Rico for treatment for a back problem. We find out later that he was busted by the FBI for dealing heroin. They gave him the choice - 20 years or become a rat.

    Not quite.

    He vanished for those couple of months as he thought Tony was going to have him wacked and the Puerto Rico story was an excuse for where he hid out. A flashback shown in a episode later in the series explains this and the Miami meeting/being flipped stuff.

    I thought the FBI flipped them both just handled Pussy's turn alot better and essentially sent the other dude in to die to make Puss's cover far more effective

    I assumed they had caught him with the heroin and turned him into a rat before the first season even starts, so he was always an informant, they just show you it in season two.

    It is somewhat ambiguous in the show.

    At one time Agent 'Skip' Lipari mentions to Pussy: "You've been on our tit since '98", meaning Pussy has been informing to the F.B.I. since 1998 or so.

    But Tony is convinced, from the Season 3 episode 'To Save Us All From Satan's Power', that Pussy was flipped back as far as 1995.

    But in the end, as most F.B.I. 'rats' ended up on the show, Pussy (or Cooperating Witness (C.W.) 16 as he was known to the F.B.I. Agents) wound up
    sleeping with the fishes

    Exactly :) they show it later Jackie aperial is boss then they show him fit and healthy befrore the cancer

    True, but it is only after the Puerto Rico trip that the viewer knows for certain that he has turned informer. Before that we were only aware of Tony's suspicions that he had.
