Some of the curtain makers in my area are specifying that they won't make a curtain with material other that that that they have ordered themselves .
What is the story behind this?
Do they make an extra profit on the material?

Probably ya. We didn't have an issue with ours, just need to look harder :)

Thats ridiculous, a curtain maker should make up the curtains from your own fabric if thats what you require. Yes they do make a profit on fabrics they supply, but any maker that restricts the customer in this way is crazy in my opinion. There are plenty of curtain makers out there who are far more customer friendly geordief!!

I totally agree Geneval2008, I have dealt with lots of curtain makers and I have never had this problem. Tell them you are prepared to take your business elsewhere and they might change their mind.
