Hi, Im seriously considering going to the Grafton Academy of dress design and Im just wondering if anyone who went thr could answer some of my questions ?

Is it hard to get in their?
    How big are the classes?
Do you feel its worth the money?
    Have graduates done well?
    Is their a good atmosphere?

I did the 3 year diploma course, graduated about 2 years ago.
I would definitely recommend it. Its a really intensive pattern drafting course and at the end of it you are able to construct and sew pretty much anything.
I think its easy to get into because you just pay a yearly fee, about 5000e!!!!
The classes are VERY small, there was only ever 8 people in my classroom, which are tiny and cramped by the way.
Im not sure if I think its worth the money, even though it is a very good course. There is very little focus on the art and technical drawing side of things, the art class was for half a day once a week and everybody agreed it was a total waste of time!
I think most people do ok when they graduate but its one of those industries where you have to really push and sell yourself to get work. If you want it bad enough you'll get somewhere.
As for the atmosphere I will not sugarcoat it, I came across some the biggest bitches in my life in that place!
Alot of spoilt little brats living on daddy's money, had no interest in design, just posers who liked to spend the morning shopping in town and then saunter in at 11.30am loaded down with Brown Thomas bags!!
And then you had the other type who taught they were "too cool for school."
But having said all that I have no regrets about my time there and I loved the course.
Griffith College now have lots of different fashion design courses, you should check them out as well, I think they might go into the art side of things a bit better.
