Resorts near Allicante Spain

    Hi Folks, have booked ryanair flights for Allicante in June. On the look out now for somewhere to stay for the 2 weeks. Last year we went to a resort called Calpe, which was excellent, great beach, and very family friendly, only evenings were a bit too quiet.
    Anyone any suggestions on other nice resort within an hour drive of airport for family of four. Kids 16 and 9.
    Preferably somewhere self catering and near beach but also has a pool

    Its not a resort obviously but with myself and hubby, 5 kids, 2 grandparents and brother and sister in law its perfect for us all esp with all they gear for the kids and a private pool.

    It looks expensive when you see the price initially but when its split between us all its actually reasonable.

    This may not be your cup of tea at all but its an option (esp if you have extended family and friends to share with) and as it sound like you will be hiring a car you can look at all the areas around Alicante.

    I've never been to Alicante before and we are heading in September.
    Cant wait:D
