Newbie to Satellite: Changing Sky+ to Foxsat HD HDR

    Hi folks,

I'm new to Satellite technology so please bear with me. My family got 2 Sky+ boxes and a dish installed last June. Since then we've had problems which reached a climax this week when our boxes were finally replaced. Now my parents are unable to record anything on their new box and my box has flashing lines and the audio skips every minute or so. The engineer was supposed to come out on Friday or Saturday to fix the problems but never showed.

We're considering going back to NTL analogue (as both our neigbours have had problems with NTL Digital) and I was looking at getting a Foxsat HD PVR for my bedroom. I've noticed on the back of our Sky+ boxes that there are two cables going into terminals marked Dish Input 1 and Dish Input 2. Is it as simple as connecting the cables from these two terminals to LNB 1 and LNB 2 on the Foxsat box?

Has anyone done this and how do you go about setting up the stations, also is there any need to move the Sky dish or is this angled to get the Freesat stations as well?

    Thanks!

    just unplug the sky box.

Screw in the two cables from the sat dish into LNB 1 & 2 on the freesat box

Connect freesat box to tv via hdmi /scart cable

    Connect power cable

Power up freesat box, and follow on screen prompt's.

Just have a uk postcode to hand.

    Simples
    :)

Make sure it a Northern Ireland postcode if you want UTV.

you are prob still in contract with sky until June, so you are contracted to pay sky a sub until then. :(

they should however rectify the problem. ring them again.

We're going to keep trying until the warranty expires but I like researching the alternatives :)

Be aware that the Irish channels are not available FTA satellite, you will need a terrestrial aerial for these.

Yup, already aware of that. It's just for the bedroom, primarily so I can watch More4 and the Daily Show in particular. Plus the BBC & ITV HD channels.
