    if i left the rear seats in a commercially taxed jeep what would happen regarding the law/customs???

    you'd be breaking it and if caught or stopped at a customs checkpoint your vehicle could be seized, you could be fined and possibly face prosecution.

    also in the event of an accident don't be surprised if your insurance company try to wiggle their way out of any claim based on you witholding information or providing false statements regarding the vehicle.
