George Washington's only offspring has been named 'Date With Destiny'. No pressure there:D
GW was one of the most overrated horses of the past decade maybe all time but you have to say his Guineas win was pure class. It will be interesting to see how his only offspring gets on and coming out of a 16 race maiden will she become anything special?
One things for sure she's in great hands with Richard Hannon taking care of her.

Here's what Hannon said about her
Julie Wood has taken her time in naming her expensive George Washington filly, but she has plumped for Date With Destiny for her 350,000gns purchase.
Richard Hannon said:”Julie always comes up with a decent name, and maybe she is psychic in going for Date With Destiny. She is a lovely filly who is doing everything right. She is a great mover and looks to have the right sort of attitude you want in a racehorse, and, hopefully, she will be something special. Obviously, you never know until they run, but it is exciting having such a high-profile youngster, and we are just starting to step up the work for some of the two-year-olds, so we’ll all be watching her closely.”

He was truly brilliant alright but probably not as much as he should have. I mean as a 2yo apart from his 1st race he was near unstoppable but what did he beat? As a 3yo he won the Guineas very well but once again what did he beat? Sir Percy went on to win a poor Derby in a blanket finish(even though he wouldn't have won only for Hala Bek jinking when about to lead)and Dylan Thomas,Sixties Icon,Septimus the only decent horses to come out of the race,Araafa turned GW over a couple of times in what were basically match races but he finally got revenge in the QEII. After that he done nothing of note. Obviously he never got back into it after his fertility problems and wasn't the same but for some people to say he was 'unbelievable' and 'the best miler ever' i think is a bit over the top and yes i have heard some people say that!
Georgous George as you say was brilliant but we only seen him looking georgous about 3 times

I think the horse was ONE of the best of the last decade AND one of the main drawcards that Flat racing has had.

Champion 2 and 3yr old... Beaten yes in the IRISH 1,000 Guineas and injuried during running there. 1st up beaten at Goodwood , then back to his best at Ascot in the QE2.

I think his 4yr old year was tough on everyone - not easy bringing a Colt who was infertile and putting him back in training. I didn't think he was a 2000m horse but that's where the Coolmore heads wanted him.
