I have nothing to live for

Im 28, still at home, friends moved away, all travelling. Single. In a boring and dead job. Its a very boring life, there is nothing going for me.

I was never a person to go off and travel and being single doesn't bother me.

I hate living at home and hate my job. I can't stand it and rather just hibernate until something comes up. But i am the only one who can change that so there's no point sitting around waiting for something to happen. I have always wanted to get into nursing. Applyied as an assistant and not getting anywhere. I even offered to the work as a volunteer, nothing.

So i have applied to a plc nursing studies course and i hope i get it. It will be a start anyway, if i get in. But what else can i do? I don't want to go on for the rest of my life being miserable. The only thing i want to focus on right now is my career (or lack of it) but how can i if im not being given a chance?

This is the only thing i ever wanted to do and just the thought of having to reconsider it, and trying to find another career is scary. I don't think there is anything else i would be happy in.

I don't know what i am asking. Has anyone been in a similar situation where they always wanted to do something and tried, but didn't succeed?

So you really want to do nursing, you've applied for the course, and now you're worrying yourself about what will happen if you don't get it?

It's out of your hands, stop worrying about it. You'll probably get it. If you don't get it, you can try again - one of my friends is currently in a course he got rejected from twice before getting accepted (he applied every year until he got it).

In the meantime, it might be helpful to do some studying of basic biology/anatomy in your spare time to give you a leg up when the course starts.

Thats it exactly, scared of not getting it. I could try again next year and the year after that, well i'm never going to give up on it. But how long am i going to have to wait? I have been putting it off for years but feel ready to go back to college now, more than any other time.
But i can't stay in my job. Not getting any satisfaction out of it. Im not qualified to do anything else so il have crap pay and just getting by in another meaningless job. Sure, i already have that.
I have been saving alot for college, lately i have been thinking of just packing up and go travelling, come back and try again. I'l just come back broke which doesn't make sense for college. Don't know what to do.

Ok, i can really relate to how your feeling as i was feeling a similar way last year. I went through a pretty bad patch in my life...I was desperate for a new start and would have done anything to get it! I had my heart set on a college course but i never had much confidence to believe that i could actually do it..
Anyway, to cut a very long story short, i applied for the course...Spent my time studying hard, and doing pretty much everything i could to get that course...There was a happy ending to my story and i got the course..It has been a dream come thru for me..A new start..And a real push in the right direction...
So, i would agree with the advice of the previous poster...Mab u could brush up on your interview skills (as i think there is an interview process for mature students) Really, brush up on all relevant knowledge and really show them that this is something you really have your heart set on! I feel sure if you do this, you'll get it!
About feeling so low about life-try talking to a friend or close family member..It always helps to talk about things, maybe talk over your option a bit..Or even better, try a night out with someone, sometimes its nice to escape from it all..Hope this helps!! Best of luck with everything..and have faith in yourself...Believe that you can do it.
