TAS vs. www.xero.com

    Hey,

Looking at implementing www.zero.com for a client and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it at all and can give me any feedback on how they find it.

It doesn't seem to have Irish tax system specific support or payroll functionality but the client I am dealing with really wants a online dashboard for the finances and this seems to be the best we can find. Any advice or experiences that you can share would be appreciated.

Before I start we resell xero so make what you want of below.

I use Xero for my own accounts and a number of clients and I like it and so do the clients. Its very very easy to use. Very logical and the online dashboard makes a huge difference if you have an a number of sites or an offsite bookkeeper. No hardware or back ups to worry about.

The neatest set up I seen was Xero integrated with Freshbooks

It manages Irish VAT no problem on the normal accruals basis. The cash basis isn't as simple as it could be but still workable.

With regards to payroll very few accounts packages have integrated payroll generally they sell a separate payroll package.

I chose Xero to resell because its so user friendly.

Feel free to give me a shout if you'd like a demonstration or further info.

I don't know zero very well.

The advantage of the Tas Basics is that its free. It has a Tas books today feature that gives you a company dashboard at a glance and it works for Irish vat.

Disadvantage is that it does not produce invoices to print out (you need a paid for product for that) and if by online you mean hosted data it does not do that either

thanks for the posts, running TAS basics with the quickpay free for the moment as they are free makes sense to give them a try first and see if they do what we need before committing to a monthly outlay on the zero service.

Do you know how easily the transfer over from TAS to zero would be if we wanted to change down the line?

If your not processing a large amount of transactions and are happy to bring over opening balances and not have a transaction record on Xero it would be simple enough.
